I agree that it’s a work in progress and always will be. There are constantly new books being written that catch my interest so I have to clear out some old ones. Great idea having your husband bring some of those books to his classroom. That way he can share his love of history books with his students.

I was thinking of doing something similar with some of my beloved cook books. I thought I could give some to my sisters or friends or perhaps the library. I have given away all my classics as they are online for free now. Both my husband and I like yourself have bought many other books, many not read yet. I asked Michael who is a history teacher to bring any of the historical non-fiction we have read to his classroom. Finally, he has parted with some. It is a work in progress.

Also consider using a professional cleaning service to assist you with de-cluttering. It will go faster and be a lot less painful to do the detrash.

When we start asking ourselves questions before we buy something then we are doing what I call “conscious shopping”. This helps control the mindless shopping that leads to clutter. This system has helped me stay organized even if I don’t have time to send out all the cards. The way it is set up helps prioritize which people are the most important on my list. Since both religions are in my family and friends even if I don’t write a personal note at least the card itself shows a little personalization.

I pretend that I don’t actually own anything in my home, but I can buy whatever I’d like. What would I actually want in my house? How many tiny bottles of hand lotion do I really want?

It can definitely be a challenge to get all the greeting cards out the door on time. Especially when you like to send a handwritten note, like me. I like how you are sending out cards for each person’s religion. Great system and thanks for sharing!

A great tip. I never really thought of doing this before. I can see where it will help us to keep from over buying or even keep from adding more clutter to the house.
